In May of 2015 we visited Romania for about four weeks. For a long time we had been thinking about going birding in the Danube Delta, and also about hiking in the mountains of Romania. But the birding there is best in early May, and you can’t really go hiking in the mountains in May because there would still be too much snow. So finally we came up with the plan of birding in early May, hiking at the beginning of June, and filling in the gap with cultural tourism. Of which there’s a lot in Romania; the country has eight UNESCO World Heritage sites and we visited five of them. And it worked out very successfully.
We’ve published our diaries and photos in the web pages section, starting here: Romania 2015.
