This year we returned to Britain for more long-distance walking. We had two one-week walks in mind, the Cumbria Way and the Cotswold Way. But there was a problem with the Cumbria Way: it mostly went through the valleys and not over the fells. What would be the point of going to the Lake District and not doing any fell-walking? Our solution to that was simple: we would stop for two or three days after each stage and spend those days fell-walking!
We did the Cumbria Way, with the additional fell-walking, on our own, and then met up with our friends Neil and Christine to do the Cotswold Way. After that Christine had to head back to Glasgow for some family business, and Neil carried on with us for a few days in Wales.
