October 5 Kasane, Chobe National Park
Rosemary went on this three-hour game drive through Chobe National Park, where there were even more animals than at Etosha. However we later heard from another group that our group was almost the last ones to be allowed in. There was an epidemic of anthrax and the park had been closed. This was grim news for the baby elephants that had just been born.
However Paul had had an attack of heat stroke the previous day, so he was in no shape to sit in the sun for three hours. Instead, he went to the Chobe Medical Clinic to visit the doctor. This was a modern western clinic with syringes in sealed packages and a computer for patient billings.
